Re: Raincoat Party - Makerfield by election

Lovely idea but the word Mackintosh is missing from your manifesto, hence I could not vote for you

Best movies for Rubber Mackintoshes

I would like members to list their personal favourite movies for Rubber Mackintosh content. My top two are Face of the Cat (Le Chatte), 1958 and Niagara, 1953.
The former film is in black and white and features the lead character wearing a SBR mack in most scenes. Niagara is well known to mack fans ...

Re: Favourite RUBBER mackintosh manufacturers in the past

Well now, there's good old South Bucks Rainwear with free brochures sustaining me and many others in my youth. Good marketing and a lot of us would buy copiously later in life. They sold quality rubber mackintoshes and many latex items. A particular favourite of mine was a Japanese made three ...

End of the SBR Mackintosh ?

I hear rumours that the Shiny Black Rubber material used to make SBR mackintoshes is or may be shortly unavailable. If so is this the end for British SBR, a very sad occasion if true. I suppose latex will still be freely available as it is still in demand by the Europeans. I now also see that ...

Re: Before the Internet

I was one of many it seems that were sustained in the 60's and 70's by brochures from the likes of South Buck Rainwear, Gayetime Mackintoshes,
Mac Mac, Cocoon and Sealwear. My first rubber magazine purchase was Pussy Cat which was a fine colour product. Later I also subscribed to Smooth and received ...

Dr Who rubberised mackintosh in colour

Tomorrow night at 9pm, the BBC is showing a Dr Who episode from 1969, now colourised. A treat for us to see Wendy Padbury again wearing her double textured rubberised mackintosh, enjoy !

Re: Wonder why I like it

I am no scientist but I suspect the liking for nylon swishing sounds could be a throwback to floating in the womb, the sounds of the natural life supporting fluids. The heavier rubber rustle beloved of mackintosh enthusiasts could also emanate from this but more likely to come from mummy or daddy ...

Re: New Members

Sing this to the tune of "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep"..
Where's your mackintosh, where's your rubber mack, far far away.
Last night I saw my Mamma wearing her mack, owee, Rubber Rubber Mack Mack. Woke up this morning and my Mamma was gone. owee Rubber Rubber Mack Mack.

Re: Why is our fetish so unacceptable?

Depends where you live I suppose. I live in a very rural area and nobody takes any notice of what people wear in the rain as we are all getting on with life. The only comment I have had was from a stranger in a car who said "I see you are enjoying the rain", hardly earth shattering. As regards ...
