Bots

I have noticed that often there is a google bot or a bing bot online and even listed as a “registered user”.
Could our guardian angel administrator please comment on this and what the policy is, as maintained by our site operators.

I have also noticed that all posts can be found by googling.

Let me be clear, I am not stating a preference here, nor wishing to start an argument, but just bringing it to attention for others who might not have noticed. In other forums where I am and have been a member, I sometimes have the choice to select if my posts are seen by just friends, or by registered users or the whole world. Then I presume the appropriate (hidden) html code is put in my posts and if it says no bots, then google respects it.

What do others think?

Even without the bots Google and others can see and store plenty of data what you do online:

Being a public forum it had "bot" accounts that indicate when Google or Yahoo or any other search engine for that matter is detected and busy indexing the site. The rainwear forum predates facebook groups but for a more controlled environment I suggest using those.
