My rainwear holy grail

Post by Bill_P »

Two days ago it was my lucky day as I stumbled onto an ebay listing for a 1950s-60s Weather-Rite full length yellow rubber raincoat with black corduroy tipped collar & brass buckle closures in a size XL for only $50 USD. Needless to say I snapped it right up and it arrived today, and even though it was only lightly misting out I still threw it on at lunchtime with my shiny black Burberry wellies and my yellow Helly Hansen sou'wester, for the express purpose of going to the mall so I could snap a selfie in one of Boston Store's dressing rooms. This may be the greatest raincoat I've ever owned, the coat is lightweight, the rubber is cool and smooth, and the lining is a cotton-nylon blend so it's extremely flexible, not stiff like the heavy rubber raincoats you can get from industrial product catalogs these days.

I've hardly taken the coat off the last two days even though we've only had trace amounts of rain. I figure the slightest chance of rain is excuse enough to wear it in public.
