My favorite item is a pair of waterproof trousers. One leg over the head and pulled down to seal around the face leaving a long tube in front that can be closed off with string or just by holding it. One arm goes in the remaining leg and sometimes I add a second set over the top. On top of that a waterproof coat over the top with the hood up and tied tightly so that the leg of the trousers is non removeable. With heavy nylon trousers the noise of the trousers going in and out with each breathe is brilliant. Care is needed with thin trousers such as Peter Storm leggings as the thin fabric sucks in so quickly and makes it impossible to reopen the leg to get some air when needed. I often cable tie the leg which my arms are in to make getting out a little harder. With blue and red trousers you are also in the dark. No light can get through both colours.

That sounds lovely way to play in heavy rainwear.
I have done the same with my nylon waterproof leggings .and like you pointed out the thinner the rainwear the faster it clings together and makes it more dangerous as harder to breathe. But I must try it with my yellow pvc work trousers and coat .
