Well, I'm feeling a bit 'peevy', having not yet had my dinner, so I might as well chip in
1) Online retailers who incorrectly label any shiny or semi-shiny clothing/garment as being 'Vinyl' or 'PVC' when it is, most likely (these days!) to be something like EVA/PEVA, POE, TPU, lustrous nylon, polyester or PU. PVC, aka Polyvinylchloride, akaVinyl) is its own distinct plastic with its own properties.
2) The crappy 6P-free PVC, which simply does not have the same sensory, auditory, olfactory and tactile qualities compared to the 'classic' PVC of decades gone, whose plasticizer was either DEHP or DINP, or, in some cases, a DEHP-DINP blend.
Even though the EU legislation on phthalate plasticizers only applies to PVC articles for babycare and children's toys, the fashion retailers selling to adults (in the now-very rare instance of them offering something in actual PVC, as opposed to EVA, etc), boast of it being '6P-free'. Now, while I acknowledge that non-fetishists buying a PVC raincoat for casual outdoor use would not care less, as a PVC fetishist I can definitely tell the difference: the 6P-free PVC material just isn't the same.
Now, I am a PVC Material fetishist- not just a PVC raincoat fetishist, and the PVC objects of fetish appeal to me are diverse as PVC rainwear, those clear Fulton dome umbrellas (not the other brands made of that awful paper-like POE material), PVC bedding, PVC catsuits, PVC shower curtains, and inflatables like inflatable novelty/toy furniture (which the 1990s-Y2K era were famous for). Because the brightly-coloured novelty blow-up furniture (chairs, sofas, etc) are regarded as 'children's toys', even though many adults enjoy/use them, the contemporary versions of those 1990s-style inflatable chairs/sofas offered today are invariably made from that awful 6P-free PVC. Again, ordinary consumers (non-fetishists) probably would not care less, but it is annoying for me, as the 6P-free PVC does not have the properties/attributes of appeal to me as a PVC material fetishist.
Luckily, the EU restrictions on phthalate plasticizers in babycare items and children's toys for retail do not apply to custom-made PVC inflatables for personal enjoyment as an adult, so I have been able to have some DINP PVC inflatables and raincoats custom-made for me by a company in China.
Virtually all the contemporary clear shower curtains are made from EVA/PEVA, even though the seller might describe it as 'Vinyl'. Disappointing for me, as I do like to wrap my entire naked body up in that ultra-soft, squeaky and silky-smooth clear PVC of a shower curtain.
