It's not raining today but i know what I will wear next time it's wet: my new Plastico two-piece rainsuit which I just bought through e-bay. It's even nicer than my one-piece rainsuit from the same people!! It's a much brighter, buttercup yellow (the one-piecve is more of a lemon yellow) and it is also thicker and shinier (if such a thing is possible). In short, it's exactly what a rainsuit should be!
The pants are long and very roomy. The top is pull-on anorak style stype which fastens with a short zipper and two press-studs. It doesn't get much better than this for ultimate waterproofing.... Wish I'd bought more than just the two or three still available at the time.
I just can't wait to pull everything on and wear it to the park ... or the local supermarket?
What did you decide to wear in today's rain?

Re: What did you decide to wear in today's rain?
Nice to hear we're all enjoying our rainwear. We left for our holiday around Europe last week and I only brought with me my red Plastico raincoat so that's all I have when it rains and so I'm forced me to wear it no matter when or where! So far its been on four times, the longest for about 4 hours while we looked around a city in Switzerland, I even wore it after it stopped raining because it was chilly.
We're now in Italy for a week and I hope we get some rain!!!

Re: What did you decide to wear in today's rain?
Hi All,
Tomorrow we go to Oberstdorf in South Germany , near the Austrian border for 3 weeks holiday.
I have been there many times. It is a village where it rains more than sometimes.
It lies at the North edge of the Alps ,and rain clouds are stopped there by the mountains .
I have taken a PVC raincape and an umbrella,(My wife wants that ) but I hope I have to wear the cape there. My wife wears a cape only if it is unevitable, but she does.
If it rains too much and we are at the appartment ,I walk alone.
Greetings ,Peter

Hi Plastic Max, what kind of red raincoat of Plastico do you have ? Is it the shorter one, or the longer one ? I discovered that some shinyl vinyl Plastico raincoats are quite "thin", while others are made by quite "thick" vinyl fabric.
I have a long pink (lilac) raincoat, where the fabric is quite thin. See : http://www.funplastic.de/IL/Bilder/pl123sp.jpg
And i have a red raincoat, where the vinyl fabric is quite thick. See :

Or do you have this coat from Plastico in red ?

Have you seen many raincoats in Switzerland ?

Re: What did you decide to wear in today's rain?
Hi Rainfash, I have the red as well as the black like this: http://www.funplastic.de/IL/Bilder/pl122sr-sb.jpg.
The vinyl is not flimsy, about the same quality as P-U-L. I have had both for about 9 - 10 years and worn them many times, so they do last well. The only damage so far is a worn hole where the string comes out of the hood on one side (maybe I tie it too tightly!!) but I managed to make a repair with some red plastic tape and strong glue to reinforce the edges of the hole. In fact, I like the red one so much that I just bought a spare just in case the first one gets more damage and becomes unwearable.
I tend to wear the black one in more of a "business" environment and the red one when I am more relaxed about being seen, although I have never had any bad comments. I find that when it is raining people don't care what you wear if it keeps you dry, the problem is when it is not raining and you want to wear your raingear, then it is more likely other people will find it strange, even for "normal" rainwear.
Sadly, I saw no other plastic/vinyl raincoats on men or women in Switzerland or Italy (they just don't know what they are missing!)

Re: What did you decide to wear in today's rain?
Hi PLasticMax, thanks for your nice reply. I also have the black and the red shorter type of coat from Plastico. I like them very much because of the stronger vinyl. I also have a lilac raincoat from Plastico, but this type of vinyl is quite thinner than the vinyl of the red and black coats. I plan to buy another long raincoat from Plastico at www.funplastic.de : http://www.funplastic.de/IL/Bilder/pl121sb.jpg
Do you know if this coat is made of the stronger more thick vinyl like the short red and black coats ?
Maybe both black coats are made from the same vinyl fabric. At least I hope so.
Regarding Italy, I haven't seen any people wearing shiny plastic macs. I have been near Venice a few weeks ago, at a larger campground, and we had some thunderstorms and showers at that time. I totally enjoyed to wear my other shiny red see-through raincoat (not from Plastico). See my flickr profile and album at : http://www.flickr.com/photos/87934922@N00/5898615973/
Have a good time and enjoy the rest of your - hopefully very rainy - vacation.

Re: What did you decide to wear in today's rain?
Usually if it is raining down here in the Southeast of Essex I wear my blue Westminster rainmac by Rainmac
Or
A lightweight knee length coat by Regatta made of nylon/pvc.
Or if I am out with the camera and my lady (Colleen) with the camera then it is my Black semi transparent pvc mac with a hood.
Must get a rainmac for the camera to! lol lol

It's not cold enough for my black SBR with a hood, or my shiny red heavy vinyl one from Rimo Mode, might be okay in my red gumpla one from Casablanca (now RainProtect), my blue jelly type jacket (from C&A about 30 years ago) is too short in length for the downpour we have but my black Junge jacket with a hood might be enough. Or my red or black Plastico mac. Not my old red Pacamac jacket, that's too short. I've got some others, I reckon I've got around 20 different macs altogether. I know many of you don't/won't wear brightly coloured macs outside but my take on it is, the more you do it the less of a problem it becomes. I suppose I most often wear a red mac. My wife doesn't get it at all but doesn't object to it - she just thinks I'm an eccentric and couldn't care what other people think. Which is about right! She's used to whatever I wear and just goes along with it. Well, still can't make my mind up. Let you know later.
Rainwear regards to all, Plastic Max.
