Replacing my April Rain Jacket

Post by Lordgrey »

Hi Forum,
Some years ago I bought a complete outfit from April Rain. Sadly I wasn't satisfied by the quality of the Products. While the feeling was great, they weren't water proof at the seams(bad welds I guess) and the material got hard and brittle at the elastics at the arms where it had contact to the skin. Now I wish to replace them and wonder if you know a source for that kind of Rainwear that offers good quality that you can wear in heavy storms? Some with plastic outside that is easy to clean and not that textile stuff.

sorry to hear about your bad experience LordGrey. I wonder what had happened to your items as I have a coat and bibpants from AR that I have used for over 5 y and they are still ok. Maybe you have used them more frequently and/or in oily conditions. As I have several outfits, so one outfit is not always in use. Oils are usually the most common cause for PVC to become brittle. If you are not intending to be a returning customer for AR, then I could think that you might find somewhat similar kind of clothes from Sweden www.farmerrain.com

Well, the Products are 6 Years old now. The Problem arises only at the wrist elastics, so I think it's the contact to the skin that destroyed the PVC. Now it's very uncomfortable to wear it on the skin. This only affects the Jacket I really often use. I have a few trousers too from them. While the products perform well in mild rain, I still got wet in really heavy rain. That's not acceptable. For next summer I'm searching for an affordable Jacket with this plastic outside that is easy to clean. Maybe an overall too.

Thanks for the link, I didn't know this manufacturer. Sadly, I can't Swedish. Aprilrain had an English page. Sadly the successor has not a so good organized webpage. I wonder how the Ocean gear is. Sadly Tells and the other Manufacturers of children rainwear don't produce in adult size…
