Strangely I was on a London bus once, strange because you don’t get many London buses in Newcastle

I could see a beautiful dark-haired girl waiting at the bus stop in the Bigg Market and believe it or not she was wearing a knee length Jiffy style plastic mac

Although the bus was quite empty she chose to sit right in front on mine, the smell of her exotic perfume filled my nostrils, hmmm lovely

As we bumped along the road I knew it would soon be time for her to get off, I knew I had to take my chance or lose her forever

I summoned up all the courage I could find, I gently tapped her on the shoulder, the feel of the plastic is something I’ll remember forever, “Excuse me Miss” I said, she turned to look at me, she was even more beautiful than I’d first thought “Can I ask you something” I stuttered, she smiled and replied “of course”

I could feel my face getting warmer “I just wondered if you were a member of the rainwear central forum” she smiled and gave out a little laugh “of course not” she said “its only 1980 the internet is in its infancy and the rainwear central forum wont be invented for another 30 years”

Oh how we laughed
