C&A did loads of plastic macs for ages, they even did mens ones at one point which were really decent quality but didnt sell that well. I remember, must have been during the 80s, they were flogging them for a pound each in the sale and had loads. How I wish I had bought afew then but like everyone else it didnt occur to me that they would become so scarce and in the few places available now, incredibly pricey due to the small scale production

In 1979 I bought my then girlfriend a Blue pvc mac from C&A for the pricely sum of £4.99!

Then in around 1994-5 I bought myself a long black nylon mac which is half lined from there to.
That cost £15.
Still got that one but not worn it for ages as it is in storage.
There was a grey one to but I did not get that on unfortunately.

Good old C&A!

I know C&A are no longer in the UK but think they have shops in Europe (sure I have seen them when on holiday) - do they still sell PVC Macs etc??

The only place in the U.K I have seen any pvc macs is Primark and that was last year.
Debenhams had a Silver/Grey thigh length mac on their website about two months ago but did not see it in their local shop here.

Qvc have a mac on their website by Dennis Basso
Gunmetal (Grey) or Olive colour at £71.

I always look in the European C&A shops when we're on holiday but have never seen any plastic or pvc rainwear. I do remember seeing some plastic rain jackets in an H&M somewhere a few years ago but that was all. Funny thing is that when it rains there are plenty of shiny jackets and macs around, I think some of our European friends are more amenable to wearing proper rainwear than we Brits tend to be.
