I have always wondered about what women feel on a rainy day when they are wearing a skirt or dress hopefully under a long enough raincoat. For example, do they still feel and are exposed to the possibility a heavy rainfall splashing upward off a sidewalk?
Obviously, I enjoy both the thought and experience. Wearing a long raincoat over shorts for gym or PE classes here in the States would have given me an early experience of this. Despite wearing raincoats frequently in my formative years, this was always over long trousers. But I am sure that there are many senior members of the forum, particularly from Great Britain, who would have had this experience back in the day of wearing a gabardine raincoat or a pacamac over shorts that were the normal part of a dress school uniform for boys at a young age.

Back in the 70's We had to wear a horrible cotton rugby shirt and cotton shorts.
PE Teacher, the same. But over that disgusting manky rugby shirt and shorts. An Adidas Nylon Cagoule.
Even at the time, when I was young and stupid. I wanted to rescue that Cagoule from its torturous environment.
Same Cagoule as this one:-

Im not sure wear school shreddies come into the equation of RAINWEAR?
Since we were made to wear PE kit over in all weathers, with nothing over the top for protection, it counts as rainwear in my book.

At the comprehensive school I attended in the late 70's early 80's thin nylon shorts were worn by nearly everyone. For me I wouldn't class them as rainwear, but wearing them gave me a similar thrill. I have not seen any for sale over the counter in over 20 years, but the pvc shorts sold by PVC u Like are even better!

After I posted a lightly off-topic picture of the blue Adidas Cagoule.
Thought I'd link to this picture and video of the typical Nylon Shorts I think JellyMan was maybe referring to.
...and the Video:-

I like the Nylon noise they make about 40 seconds in.

Love the shiny lining of the cagoule.
Those shorts look lighter and not quite as shiny as the ones I had.

YKK my school PE teachers all wore the same, the male torturers (sorry teachers) wore navy blue and the female PE teachers wore royal blue and red. Alot of the kids wore peter storm or puma with a couple wearing black white and grey Patrick cagoules. We had to have one for PE as often being South Wales it would rain. I had a grey and black Puma one which i loved wearing.

Yes we had those nylon shorts; in my 2nd year (in old counting) pe kit was altered from to those; thats all we wore for PE shorts and plimsolls nothing else. There was a year of old and new so it took a year before we all has them.
The cane hurt a lot more through the nylon ones too (we had to change into pe shorts for canings).

I hope the Nylon didn't suffer too long, while it was being thrashed.
