These comments regarding the decline of our shopping streets are spot on, but if we as a population keep chasing what seems to be cheap then we end up with less real choice and less quality.Rubadubdub wrote: June 29th, 2024, 8:21 am I agree completely. I grew up in the sixties and seventies where everything was exciting, vibrant and REAL! Life now is becoming very stagnant, nothing is exiting anymore. I drove an electric car for the first time yesterday. Wouldnt give tuppence for it! So so boring. I couldnt wait to get back into my MGB. A proper car that is slow, has no gadgets and makes a noise! My high street, once apon a time, used to have proper shops. Butchers, bakers, fishmongers and RECORD shops!!!!!. Now, just two supermarkets, coffee shops galore and charity shops full of unwanted books and dull uninteresting (to me anyway) clothing. Sadly I dont go there anymore. Even the pubs have disappeared. Im getting old and grumpy, as you may well have noticed. Thank god some do gooder has not banned the wearing of rainwear yet! Rant over. Have a nice weekend all of you.
