When I was a very small boy, my mother always wore a nylon apron when she was in the kitchen or doing housework. Maybe that's where my fetish for vintage nylon raincoats comes from. However, my parents did not have nylon raincoats, which were otherwise very modern in the 60s and 70s when I was a child.

Born in the early 70’s and grew up with nylon rainwear, cagoules, nylon clothes, I discovered a liking for them from a young age and have loved wearing them ever since

I’m a bit older and nylon cloathes were really common in the 70:s and 80:s, and still are.
For a period in the 80:s and beginning of the 90:s, rainwear made of quite thin nylon with stripes along jacket sleeves and the pants were very popular here in Sweden. Almost everyone had a set of them. They were windproof but didn’t keep water out for so long.
Adidas made the best ones when it came to be waterproof, think they had some coating on the inside.

Were they popular in GB too?

They were very swichy and I loved them. First my girlfriend for some years had a blue, shiny one and she used it daily. I loved to play with her wearing that rainwear and see her jogging in it.
Later my wife had a red one and I had a similar one, that was swichy walks I can tell. And we used them when out sailing, lovely when the nylon got a bit wet, so shiny.

Still love to wear them but my wife doesn’t, she have new rainwear but still of nylon but Gore tex.

For me it all started with the orange PVC raincoat that I had as a child of about 6 years old. It was a handover from my older brother who grew out of it. I thought it was strange that the material felt just like our inflatable swimming pool in the garden nad for some reason I enjoyed wearing this material. That is how it started with me. Later I had a similar raincoat in a bigger size and a yellow one. I am very happy that these raincoats can still be found, also in adult sizes and I own two of those classic yellow pvc raincoats.

As a child I thought I was the only one with this interest but later in my adolescence I discovered that it has to do with fetishism. In my adolescence I also loved watching women in vinyl macs (very fashionable in the early 90's). The shiny black and red ones were my favorite and I even fantasized about trying on such a pvc mac myself. It made me wish being a girl for just one day to try one on Now I also have a few vinyl macs of my own which I can wear in my bedroom for my pleasure together with some other vinyl garments.
