Good quality vintage photos of women from here and there wearing plastic mackintoshes - mostly from the 1950s.

Oh Rothbhoy, what a wonderful set of pictures. They certainly took me back to my childhood in the 1950's. Such lovely see-through plastic macs. I had seen the picture of the two ladies in their macs at the Whitsuntide marches before but I hadn't seen the others. I loved the photo of the young lad being protected from the rain by the lady in the plastic mac; I wish that had happened to me.

Tiefdruckgebeit, the plastic macs and capes in your 2 photos are brilliant. It's a shame that we don't see them any more.

I also like their glamorous side.
I would so much like people to dress in these outfits again.
I find these raincoats very pretty on women but also on men.
I'm a man and I like to walk in the rain with pvc rainwear.

Thanks for finding and posting these images. Aside from the rainwear it is very striking compared with now how much thinner the women seem.

Very true - it's something you notice often when you see photographs from the 1950s and 1960s. I think we all know why....
