The strange thing with oilskins...... They always retain their distinctive smell, even though some of mine date from the 1950's.
I know their age, as they have the War Department mark inside, an arrow and a year date.
I have spent many a happy day wearing mine and laying there with my head and face enclosed in a oilskin mack or inside a trouser leg breathing in the smell, filling my lungs and body........pure heavenly pleasures.
