I got a compatible for my Nikon its a Yongnuo Speedlite and it works quite nicely, it also works well using the flash from another camera to trigger it

Green screen for video and a panasonic 9 volt 2amp power pack for video use!

Have you any experience of the Fuji X series cameras, they're quite compact but quite pricey too

No never used one.
Always used either Canon or Nikon dslr since I went digital.
