Hi Wellyboy,

I can confirm that the YouTube video clip is of Fearne Cotton and the lady on the boat interviewing the WW II veterans is the same lady. I created the YouTube clip from a tv series she did called The Guiness Book top 100.

Definitely the delectable Fearne Cotton in the red pvc mac. I'm not sure what brand it is (Mango, Guess or Zara possibly). On the iplayer i saw a quick of her in it at 2hr 51. I'm not sure if she was on again?

I'll try and capture it and post it

Pete

Wellyboy asks why Clare Balding was used as a presenter for the BBC's Jubilee coverage when it isn't her sphere. There's nothing new about this. I recall that one of the BBC's presenters for the 1953 Coronation was the late Bernard Braden, at that time known only as a comedian. (I think he was supposed to represent the Commonwealth, being a Canadian, but it seemed a stramge choice at the time.)

to be slightly off topic here Wellyboy may also wonder why on the BBC Derby coverage they had snooker player John Parrott as the voice of the betting ring. Seems the BBC use whoever they have for whatever comes along to give us the best value for our licence fee

Well the Jubilee is over so does that mean us mac enthusiasts can stop looking for the rare sights of a lady in a mac

Not for me and what a treat it was to see Sophie Raworth on the 6pm News on BBC1 reporting from on the journey of the Olympic Flame now in Ireland

A green Trenchcoat then on our local news in the London area two female reporters in macs

Is this the return of the mac?

Mind you it has never gone away with me....my old faithful Trenchcoat for the colder days irrespective of the weather being wet or dry and my nylon mac for the Summer showers

So it looks like "The Mac is back"
