I had a very similar experience to you. I wasn't made to wear my anorak or cagoule but was told to take it with me if it looked like rain. I also recall some kind of weird love/hate feeling to wearing them, maybe because of my special feelings. I also had a very real concern that people would somehow 'know' of my interest in my cagoules if I wore mine all the time. Completely illogical of course and overcome as I grew up..Cagoulelover wrote: March 8th, 2023, 7:39 pm When I was younger it was quite nerdy to wear rainwear and especially cagoules but I don’t recall being made to wear one, I just don’t remember wearing one apart from the odd occasion maybe. I had a blue one made by citizen which had a elastic hood which I didn’t like but it was for school trips and sometimes my paper round so didn’t come out the cupboard very often. My concern was always that people would somehow know of my burgeoning sexual feelings towards rainwear and cagoules. This being many (many!!) years before the internet, I didn’t know this was a thing that other people had.
Sorry, gone off topic….. in answer to your question, no.
Yes the love / hate thing really rings true. Similar to you, as I’ve got older I have become less self conscious about wearing a cagoule. That said, I wear my regatta packaway which is a plain navy colour and has no branding on the outside. When I was on holiday recently with my wife, I wore her plum coloured Peter storm to the shop during a downpour (the excuse I used was that it was close to hand!). The Peter storm motif and ‘storm shield’ on the sleeve was a real turn on for me as I wandered around the local supermarket.Cagoule wrote: September 13th, 2023, 9:33 amI had a very similar experience to you. This was in holiday though, I wouldn’t wear my wife’s cagoule round where I live and I certainly wouldn’t wear some of my other cagoules - I wouldn’t wear my vintage Peter storm nor my red regatta packaway. Even now I am a little concerned that people would work out my fetish - maybe daft but I can’t help it I guess.
I would love to get hold of a yellow raincoat with sou wester but would never wear one out.
I would of put it on back to front and got on my bike .love ithoodtight wrote: August 31st, 2023, 2:33 pm I remember being made to wear my M & S quilted anorak and with the hood up tied tight over my school cap when I cycled to school if it was raining. When I grew out of that, I was bought a complete suit of over the head cagoule and trousers - and was made to wear it, hood up. Of course I complained, but not too much as I secretly loved it!
