Likewise, I'm a similar age and it was just part of life in those days.

I always associate this with plimsolls and not rainwear, maybe because the sole of a plimsolls was used instead of a cane at my school.

Some of us got both-and rulers across both sides of both hands.

I am 74 and must have been naughty as i used to get the cane quiet a lot on my botty, but when i got home once my parents knew dad would use a leather belt. I often have a riding crop used on me even nowadays.

I only had the slipper (plimsoll) at school. Several of my friends were caned and they had a sort of status afterwards. I often wondered what it would be like to have had the cane

It is awful, the pain is hideously bad and depending it can be painful for a good few days after.

It is awful, the pain is hideously bad and depending it can be painful for a good few days after.

Whereas a good slippering or tawsing delivered by a woman who knows her "business", although painful at first, mellows into an all enveloping cosy warmth across both buttocks. Which is why some go back for more. If mackintoshes, aprons or leather skirts are involved too all the better.

Never got the tawse but did always have a bright yellow pvc raincoat on recieveing the cane.

How did you come to have your PVC raincoat on for the caning? I'm intrigued. If it was on the buttocks it would have dulled the pain so much the person giving the cane would have insisted on its removal. If it was on the hand of course that wouldn't apply but I'm still surprised you had your raincoat on at the time you were caned. I would imagine despite the pain it would be a turn-on to be caned while wearing a PVC raincoat!
