Hi all
Has anyone worn their pvc macs in the winter whilst the weather is cold and it's raining? I have worn my pvc mac a few times but it's too cold to wear it for long and i usually slip my mac over the top of my winter coat but that defeats to object of wearing a mac really. I have worn my mac in winter whilst wearing a really warm jumper but i still felt a little cold. Does anyone have any tips for winter mac wearing?
Cheers
Ben

depends how cold it is, and where I am going. A pvc mac over a fleece is often sufficient when out moving about like walking

I have a real satisfying and easy solution. Wear a pair of plastic pants underneath, normal clothes then rainjacket, coat, ponch, or suit as desired ont he outside. An added benefit of the cold weather is the thicker sensation ofthe cold plastic and the stiffining of the material..as well as another area.

PVC can take a while to warm up when it is really cold so if I am going to wear one of my plastic macs I have a Black lycra top with long sleeves to wear underneath a roll neck jumper. I normally use it for cycling in the winter but it is really good at keeping you warm beneath the PVC and is quite cheap to buy !

I actually don't like pvc against my skin, so, to deal with winter, I have 3 long women's pvc raincoats that are lined with flannel- toasty warm! And for shoveling snow, or being out on a beautiful cold wet day, I have rubber boots a size too big to accommodate an insulated work boot insole, (Dr. Schol's) and wool socks over my regular ones, and I have rain pants and matching rainjackets (all unlined) that are also a size too big- to go over fleece, and even my winter parka.
This is all topped off with thin cotton gloves under my AprilRain vinyl mittens.
I also have a one piece green pvc "acid suit" that I wear over a footed fleece sleeper- It is perfect for not getting too overheated while shoveling snow, as the fleece wicks away the sweat. I do have to remember to drink water while wearing it!
