Blanked out faces...why?

Post by plasphil »

Perhaps it's me, it usually is! but I don't understand why people who brag about wearing their rainwear in public places, often in their local community, blank out their faces when they post pictures. I do understand it's all about privacy but everyone they meet or pass by knows what they look like so why hide from like minded people like us who appreciate seeing people wearing sensible rainwear?

Because this is the Internet and information always finds its way to places you don't want it to. Always better to be safe than sorry.

I've also never understood why people blank their faces . Surelly the only people looking for rainwear photos are themselves rainwear fans and if they recognise someone it could lead to a pleasent friendship . It is sad to think that there could be two secret raiwear fans living in the same street but not aware of each other

If you wear your rainwear in the streets on a rainy day no one will notice or let alone remember you.
You're just one of the many people on the streets, posting on a internet place it's much easier to trace people.
It can be a good thing as luvcapes&macks points out but personally i'm more pessimistic and see more in the points of JellyMan and rainwearseeker.

i am trying to be more realistic here. i mean it can be a little embarrassing and i rarely wear my rain wear in public (always wear rubber gloves with my raincoat when out in the rain), but it is embarrassing to even discuss about my fetish in public.

Yes JellyMan, that is the primary reason. Reposting of photos is possibly the best reason. Seeing your face wind up on a website that features things you do not approve of or participate in and then your supervisor finds out and then you are fired. Seems unlikely however several of my friends had this happen to them.

Additionally if you are a "religious sort" any stories mentioning waders and nothing else on underneath WILL get you kicked out of your position if not the church altogether. We here in the US, for all our talk of being "excepting" still have a long way to go. Because I am fluid between a male and female persona, I was asked to leave a church position so I am speaking from experience.

Ultimately it is about control. I went though a phase when I had a store selling latex catsuit, wellies and fun items from Japan. I had my real name on the business cards with my performance name. My thought was famous singers all change their names so why not me. Later on I discovered people can be very mean and envious of your success. I had some friends hurt me. Some things where posted on a web site that were completely untrue. I closed the shop and cut off connections to toxic people.

I hate the word "fetish."

However there are people that lick toes. I guess there is a huge gap between enjoying your rain suit on a rainy Saturday and looking at a women's toes protruding from their open toe shoes in Wal-Mart.

I think we humans torment ourselves over things that in the long run will not make a difference.

When I had my store I had some one call me and ask if I had in stock a maid uniform in latex rubber. I said yes. He said he would be down in 30 mins. He showed up 30 min later, handed me $250.00 and I handed him a lovely rubber maid uniform. I wanted to sit and chat with him however he was nervous and left the store quickly. I never saw him again. I can only think he was a person wanting to dress in a way that made himself happy.

It is not just you Phil, I often think to just stop blanking out my face but I have already gone through a spat of "doxing" so I try to keep my male face under wraps. However my "women's face" is rather openly celebrated. :)

As models all the people I work with understand that the images could end up anywhere, if I feel they don’t understand that I make it clear to them

However outside of modelling I understand why people might chose to hide their faces

I get Phil’s point about like minded people seeing the images but the images aren’t only shared by like minded people

I’ve found images shared on various sites most bizarrely on one site about motor scooters, so while not possible to predict where images will end up its not possible to predict who might see them

Having said all that I dislike images with blanked out faces but its down to personal choice
