I'm moving to the UK in a few days and am currently working on packing outerwear. In my home country, I rarely wear proper waterproof raincoats when it is raining and will usually just use an umbrella and wellies. Travel blogs and UK fashion blogs seem very contradictory, with tourist information insisting that waterproof everything (even trousers) are required and fashion bloggers running around in wool coats or blazers all the time.

What do normal people do on the many days where it is just cloudy and drizzly? How much wear do you get out of non-waterproof coats or leather jackets?

You wouldn't need full head to toe rainwear all the time but it depends on if you drive or if you like walking when its wet outside. It rains a lot and often it's cold sideways rain when I find an umbrella useless.

A cagoule is always permissible and a commonish sight.
My wife and i wear a raincoat daily apart from when its warm.
My current daily for winter is one of these in black.

I think umbrellas should carry a warning on the dangers of use. The times I have nearly had an eye poked by one is beyond belief, dam thing's should be banned. I'll excuse the see through ones as they tend to wrap around the wearers head more than project their spokes into the face of unwary passers-by.

I'll usually grab one of my lighter Grundens raincoats that are calf or knee-length when it's raining out.

As for how often do I wear a long coat? Only in the winter months. Texas is normally too hot.



I bought this one from the UK several years ago balramdau94. I guess I am very partial to things from the UK. I would not buy anything from china.

I love umbrellas, especially the glass clear pvc dome ones. I wish someone would invent one that drops all the way down to the ankles.

I agree. The Texas summers absolutely suck. Do you have any unlined garments for sale?
