'I Didn't Know You Cared' (Series 2 Episode 4 - 'A Signal Disaster'). Deirdre Costello (playing the part of Linda Preston) wearing a shiny red PVC mac with white polka dots. The series ran between 1975 and 1979. There are 5 parts to the episode on YT - Deirdre is seen in the mac in parts 4 and 5 only. Enjoy!

The books by Peter Tinniswood, on which the TV series, was based are excellent, if somewhat dark in their Northern humour.

Thanks for that mate - very interesting indeed. I am from South Yorkshire where the series was filmed - recognise so many of the outdoor locations in both Sheffield and Rotherham. I'll certainly look into the books you mention by Peter Tinniswood - sounds like they'll be right up my street being a local lad and all that....

YAY!

Been doing a bit of digging on the Internet - it seems that the series' programmes were based on 3 of his books: 'A Touch of Daniel', 'I Didn't Know You Cared' and 'Except You're a Bird'. I'll have to pop along to the Central Library in Sheffield and see if they have them - should have as they are of local interest.
