It's not from a film Beth. It's actually from an alternative comedy series (The Comic Strip Presents....).

That looks very cool. I don't think that one was ever meant to be used as raincoat. I guess it is intended to look like a "space age" scientist's outfit. Towards the end she wears it partly zipped up but in the beginning one can see that she is also wearing a very well fitting vinyl catsuit underneath.

When I first saw this clip I just thought to myself that it's a clip of Miranda Richardson - for some strange reason - wearing a shiny white PVC mac indoors in a lecture room. However, I agree with your comment about it being maybe intended as a "space age" scientist's outfit now - I just never thought of that. Cheers mate!

So does that mean the shiny black and white pvc mac worn in the 1968 film the producers was not a mac but maybe the sort of outfit you said miranda Richardson is in?

Just had to watch the mac scene in 'The Producers' again to remind myself of it. The white PVC mac (with the black trim) in that film looks like a typical PVC mac of the "swinging sixties" to me.

Hi Beth. I’m sure that the black and white PVC coat in the Producers IS a mac. The white PVC mac worn by Miranda Richardson is a sort of a spoof on a scientist’s lab coat. (In my humble opinion). Bill xXx
