I've put the mac down as (rubber/plastic/PVC?) - anyone got any idea as to what it might be made of given the film is from 1937?

Afaik the coating with synthetic rubber (probably on a cotton inner side) was common in that period. In Germany the Klepper coats came up in the 1920s.

Cheers for that mate. That would make sense (synthetic rubber - cotton inner side) given that the film is from 1937. Yes, you're right, Klepper macs came in in the 1920s and PVC wasn't really seen until the 1950s.
