Fabulous mac. I’m not entirely sure it’s not nylon, but lovely whatever it is made of.

Glad you enjoyed it JM. I think the mac is made of ciré, which to me always seemed like a mix of plastic and nylon.

Glad you enjoyed it JM. I think the mac is made of ciré, which to me always seemed like a mix of plastic and nylon.
I remember cire from the late 1970’s and and always assumed it was a look rather than a specific material. Always shiny, but sometimes cotton, sometimes nylon and possibly a mix. I loved blouson jackets in cire - although I never experienced any in person, only seen in adverts like the Littlewoods catalogue.

Yeah, I remember the name ciré from the late 70s and 80s too - I always thought it was a French fashion word for something made of nylon/plastic. It was always quite flimsy, quite shiny (but not as shiny as PVC) and to the touch felt like a cross between plastic and nylon. Very rarely hear ciré being mentioned nowadays.
