Firstly happy new year everyone hopefully 2023 is a good year for us all.
Now I'm just wondering does anybody in here on this group own a pair of the adults blue Romika gumboots with the green soles just wondering what the qauilty is like before i purchase a pair and don't get disappointed with my purchase I'm interested in a pair just for general duties and mudding and not care about them getting scratched up and wear marks and so on they will be used for intended use and hard use at that as I'm sick of my nice boots after a days mudding and bushwalking are just absolutely Hammed with scratches it kills me seeing a new pair boots on the first outing coved in marks all over and deep scratches from use and having fun wearing them and enjoying wearing them the way they should be used and not too mention the cost of a good nice pair boots these days is getting ridiculous price going up qauilty going down or is it just me thinking this 🤷

And also is it just me having a carry on or are the rubber compounds these days not as durable as in the past I'm noticing it more and more with PVC rubber gumboots and rainboots they just seem to wear out quicker now or damage easy 🤦

Don’t have an answer re the Romona boots, but I do agree that the quality of shoes and boots has gone down over the years. Soles are often made of a lightweight material that ends up cracking or wicks water into its porous structure. Boot soles crack and develop pinholes that let water in. And the rubber often cracks where it bends most - across the toes. Things are built for cheap manufacture and not longevity nowadays I think. I have also noticed a reduction in quality of what used to be staple brands such as Dunlop, and I suspect that they outsource manufacture to China and trade on the name alone. Having said that, at the moment my main boots were cheap £13 (23 AUD) ones and have lasted better than I had expected, but my previous Briers ones (medium priced brand in the UK) all ended up cracking.
