Mackintosh Wearing

The recent weather has given plenty of opportunity for wearing macs and both my wife and I have been wearing our black PVC macs and have been receiving favourable comments and also enquires as to where they can be purchased.

I wonder if we would see more macs worn if those selling them did more advertising and also persuaded the fashion press to do feature articles on a regular basis?

If manufacturers advertsied openly in national press & items were featured at fashion shows they would become more acceptable
Only unfavourable comments I have ever received about my Blue PUL mac are from a couple of male friends & my son. Strangely the friends wives both like the mac, saying they had similar when young.

Just need a few manufacturers; PUL / Weathervane etc to get together ; create a standard advert for the press & a web site

Interesting reading of suggestions to hopefully get more macs being worn

I seem to recall a couple of years ago one of the tabloids did a two page spread entitled "The mac is back"

The macs they featured were (I think) polyester cotton...sorry not a great one when it comes to identifying materials

Knee length described as a "Trenchcoat"

"The mac is back" was basically an advertising feature....detailing what High Street retailers were selling

Must admit the macs looked really nice...some reasonably priced....eye catching colours and these macs were a good seller

That year there were plenty of macs being worn but it was a one year fashion

The next year other outerwear became fashionable thus the macs that were purchased were most likely left hanging in the wardrobe or sold on ebay

I suppose because I am the age I am.....brought up from an early age when rainwear was worn...not because it was fashionable ...it was regarded as a reliable outer garment...I do wonder why we have turned into a nation(particularly the younger generation) of "anti mac"

Me...I will never change....I don"t wait for it to rain to wear my mac...even this morning,,dry ...sunny but windy I wore my lightweight nylon mac

I was in the minority but a pleasureable outing all the same
