I only saw the first half hour or so.. It seems that the Olympic organisers had kitted out the officials in those really horrible thin polythene disposable "ponchos" ( for want of a better description). However, I did notice some people wearing see-through rainwear of a better quality along the route and some of the people handing out drinks along the route were wearing some very nice see-though rainwear. I wish I had ben there in my see-through Jeantex plastic poncho !

I do wonder why it has to be occasions like the ladies Marathon or other outdoors events in the Olympics that people feel comfortable wearing macs
Perhaps now they have discovered how practical they are(lightweight/foldaway) more will consider returning to the "good old days" of mac wearing as an everyday occurance...not just for these outdoor events
On ebay macs are advertised with "ideal for outdoor events/festivals" etc so even the sellers do not consider a mac as a everyday waterproof item

pacamac2 I think ebay sellers are just like bloody sheep. Once one uses a description then every other one uses the same description. The number of them who use words like durable and portable in their descriptions defies belief. The sheer stupidity of the descriptions is breathtaking. What use would a raincoat which was not portable be anyway. And what the hell do they mean by durable. Such an everyday word

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, 99.9% may be sheep merv, I'd put myself in the other 0.1%, my descriptions are always individual and describe the rainwear from a fetish point of view, well as much as I can get away with within the 'rules', it may be that sellers use generic words to make sure their listings aren't targeted by the P.C. brigade.

What are you two BLEATING on about
Sadly R.D the items you sell dont appeal to the majority of people looking for 'everyday' rainwear
'I do wonder why it has to be occasions like the ladies Marathon or other outdoors events in the Olympics that people feel comfortable wearing macs'
Because most people drive around in cars and rush from the car to where ever they are going and then back into the car
These outdoor events are the only time these people have to stand out in the rain, so they are quite happy to buy throw away items
Id love to see a non portable mac, but i do have a rain jacket that i cant even bend to fold up

Fair point Ray!
As I can't see to drive, I can often be seen out and about in Dundee wearing my heavy duty fluorescent yellow rainsuit as I wander around the city, and I love watching motorists looking so miserable in their cars as they're stuck in long queues of traffic!!

Im unable to drive these days so at least there's a chance of odd item of rainwear on the bus or train
But we do seem to be living in times where even the High Street is disappearing under cover
