Beautiful But Frustrating Summer

I am an avid sun worshipper, LOVE IT!!, but as a rainwear enthusiast here in Canada, the summer has been the driest that some people can even remember. It seems to me the only time it would rain was when I was either working, with my kids, with family, or pre-occupied with something else!!! The rainfall was always short-lived and the average temperature was around 90 degrees for most of the summer. I did manage to get out and get wet in my various rainwear a few times but the outings were short or the rain would stop as soon as I was ready!!!! The grass felt like Shredded Wheat it was so dry on our feet and the soil was like powder most of the time. Now that autumn is here maybe the wet weather will be more abundant and hopefully I can send in some pictures of shimmering wetness!!!!

Interesting to read how dry it was in Canada whereas here in the UK...records say it was the wettest since 1912
Have to take their word for that cos I wasn"t about all those years ago but can quite believe it
Okay it rained sometimes continuously for days but did nothing to encourage people to put on a mac
So if the wet Summer of 2012 hasn"t changed people"s thoughts and encouraged them into wearing macs I don"t know what will
Perhaps a wet Autumn followed by a wet cold Winter will see mac wearing becoming a regular sight

Just as frustrating here in Wisconsin. Nearly 2 months of temps in the 90s-100s, grass looked like hay, crunching beneath our feet. Then when we would get rain we'd get an hour or two, then another week with no rain, then maybe one good solid day of rain, then 10 days no rain, then 2 days of brief showers/storms, then another 10-12 dry days. Maybe had 2 or 3 days where I could parade around in my rain gear, and no good rainwear sightings to speak of.

I'm also in Canada, but must be at the other end. On the north end of the coast of buitiful British Columbia I enjoy rain at least 300 days a year. Our summer has been the complete oppersite, one day of sun followed by 10 of rain followed by one day overcast followed by 10 days of rain and so on. Our lawns are lush and tree's bright green all year.
Neadless to say my wife and I get to wear our outdoor mac's all the time and she also has 3 pairs of different colour Hunter wellies to match her different colour macs.
Nobody takes any notice as the fishing industry here has people in all sorts of industrial rainwear all the time.

You must be in a place like Prince Rupert..beautiful area. I love to travel also to Vancouver Island. Yes, we had a wet spring but, as you know, the last 45 days have been record setting dry, at least in the Pacific Northwest. True enough threre is plenty of rain in northern BC!
