$235.00 and going up for this multicoloured plastic jacket ... are they really worth THAT much?

Mason, this is getting to be something of an FAQ. It is the nature of any auction that something will be sold for whatever someone is willing to pay. If there are more than one bidders the price may well be driven up beyond its true worth. What do you expect the seller to do? Say "Sorry, folks, you're bidding way too much, I can't let you pay that"? It's never going to happen.
Personally I wouldn't bid 235p for this item - it just doesn't appeal to me.

181 euro / £150
Bet it only cost £25 brand new!!
45 bids though so some people are keen
Seller will be rubbing his hands but no different to concert tickets for whoever when they come up for sale, always far more than face value

I guess its just the way of the world

At least if it doesnt sell, the higher the asking price the higher the bill from ebay

Seeing these stupid prices just makes me laugh now, my 4th and 5th parcels are on their way from China and I'll bet the combined value of all 5 is less than this one raincoat, I hope the winning bidder enjoys it, I'll certainly enjoy the numerous items I've got for the same price!

It's much more fun sneaking in under the radar and picking off what I want for practically zip ... it just requires more work to find those bargains. The only raincoats you rarely see bargains on is Rukka, because everyone (mostly) knows what they're worth. Unfortunately we are seeing more greedy sellers asking unrealistic prices for bog-standard "matt" Rukkas that are worth $50-75 tops, unless its got a belt. Top of the pops for me though (and most here, I think) would be a L or XL shiny yellow Rukka with a belt; they're going for very big money now (and they are worth it, IMO)

BTW, I have the exact same jacket that just sold for $235.00; I paid $40 something for it, looks like a steal now. Haha!

Sometimes I will go for it and splash out if its something I really want, but it would have to be an absolutely exceptional item. One of my best recent buys was a brand new sz 16 Topshop clear 'Christina Aguilera' mac complete with shop tags that I picked up for $175 and that was good buying; I've seen them go for lots more.

Hi RainyDee,

May I ask how you bought rainwear directly from China-based stockists/manufacturers? Did you buy through Alibaba, by any chance? What are the shipping costs like?

I cant believe the price of some of the peterstorms on ebay. How some folks can think they will get £120 for a standard blue cagoule when theres pretty much the same for £10 elsewhere on the page, how do these people think they will get that price?
I bought a peterstorm cagoule and matching over trousers for £4 in the local charity shop... Bargin!

You did real well with that purchase!

I have a pair of Peter Storm overtrousers that must be 10 years old & are a bit atty , couldn't get replacement Peter Storm, ended up with Tresspass "pak in a bag" ones - lighter & easier to carry but single not double skinned & don't feel as good as PS.
