I plan on having an inflatable 'novelty/fun' 'bubble raincoat' custom-made for me. The square-shaped inflatable 'chambers' of the inflatable raincoat will be like those seen on inflatable clear PVC backpacks/rucksacks: http://sell.lulusoso.com/selling-leads/ ... packs.html (picture in your mind a glass clear pvc raincoat composed of numerous square-shaped inflatable 'chambers' or 'cells').

The inflatable raincoat will consist of two layers (duplex) of supple and soft 200 micron PVC of the glass-clear type (coloured glass clear PVC is also possible). The inflatable 'chambers' or 'cells' will be square-shaped, like those in the inflatable PVC rucksack/backpack.

Has anyone had any experience with having their own PVC rainwear designs custom-made? Was it an expensive project?

I've know of both inflatable rainwear and inflatable puffa jackets, but they were both made by Japanese fashion designers back in the late 80s and are very scarce if available at all now.

The raincoats I've seen were regular clear long length raincoats with chambers HF welded to the insides. When inflated it gave the coat 'form' with the coat tails flowing out and a collar ect- but not puffy like the in tubes would on an air mat for example.

The Puffa jackets look very similar to those shiny Moncler jackets. Each cell (or chamber) had its own valve to inflate it with. I read somewhere on the web a few years back that they were quite difficult to put on and remove again whilst inflated, and not all the chambers were easy to reach to inflate afterwards. The seams also soon ripped or split apart through being worn ect.

Would be a nice idea in priciple though, good luck if you decide to find a manufacturer.
