is there any way of seeing the video without having to actually pay? or am i doing something wrong?

Yes!
When you click on the link above, click on "Free User", not "Premium", on the next page a clock of between 60 and 90 seconds will appear and after that you will get the "Download" button. The clip is in German, not English.
