Young guys wearing waders and wellies

I was walking in the rain yesterday near a popular beach. The tide was out and so many people were enjoying the fresh air despite the incessant wind and rain.
I saw two guys probably in their 20s digging in the sand for bait. Now they were not up to their knees even in water but both wore rubber waders.
As I continued my walk home I passed two young lads, probably no more than 18 and one was wearing green wellies with his jeans tucked into them. His friend had trainers on and was holding a brolly over both of them.
I thought how interesting to see a guy that age wearing his wellies in the rain. Normally fellows that age wouldn't be seen dead in wellies. Maybe he likes wearing them!!

Funny thing: When I was shopping in Hamburg yesterday, it was the first time I saw many MEN wearing wellies. It's quite "normal" to see women of all ages wearing them (yesterday I saw about 15), but suddenly many men appeared as well (maybe 7 or 8). It was heavily raining, nonetheless there were only few raincoats (about 6 women and 4 men).

plenty of guys of all ages seem to wear wellies here when walking their dogs, I think its the muddy field they use behind my house which makes wellies almost essential

I'm 22 and a proud welly wearer! It takes a lot of courage because I have never seen another lad in town with Hunters like myself. But the upside is that I've had absolutely nothing but compliments from girls and ladies! Amazing
