Re: JUBILEE MAC SPOTTING
I was just watching this on the TV, I couldn't believe how wet it was. I couldn't see much of the crowd but it did seem that few if any people in the crowd or boats wore any proper rainwear ... other than some babe wearing a gorgeous shiny red mac interviewing some older guys on a ship: it must've been the lovely Fern that some of you were mentioning earlier
Re: JUBILEE MAC SPOTTING
I watched the Thames yesterday and say the presenter wearing the red PVC mack, but I don't think she is Fern Cotton.
And the YouTube video posted here shows another presenter but also wearing a PVC mack.
I enjoyed the presenter interviewing the old sailors wearing her PVC mack. Lovely. I had a similar mack in blue which I wore last Summer but it was stolen from a pub.
Lots of people admired it, particularly girls and women.
I've been keeping a look out for another mack in PVC without much luck
Does anybody know the name of the presenter?

Re: JUBILEE MAC SPOTTING
Can anybody offer an explanation as to why Clare Balding was one of the presenters on the Thames? She presents racing and that should be it.
Where was the lovely Alex from The One Show, given her colleague Matt Baker was presenting from the studio?
But why oh why is Ms Balding involved in programmes outside of her area of expertise which is horse racing?
I've seen her pop up on other television shows such as Country Tracks and on BBC Radio 5 Live. She also presents from Wimbledon.
She always has to know everything about her subject, is very arrogant, smug and dismissive of her interviewes and wants to be the centre of attention.
First rule of journalist and broadcasting, you are the messenger,NOT the story.
Ms Balding doesn't seem to have learned this lesson.
There are far better female presenters available.
The only page one Splash Ms Balding would have made was if she fell overboard!!!

Re: JUBILEE MAC SPOTTING
Alex Jones was on a boat called Hollywood presenting a food item.
Re: JUBILEE MAC SPOTTING
bit harsh wellyboy about Clare Balding. I would imagine she is contracted to the bbc and if they only used her for horseracing she would not be giving much value for money as the beeb rarely show racing. Think Clare is a pretty good presenter and I also follow her on twitter where she is one of the more entertaining tweeters, clearly has a great sense of humour
Re: JUBILEE MAC SPOTTING
She is primarily a horse racing presenter. She wasn't contracted to be an all round presenter when she first signed for the Beeb. If the Beed doesn't show as much racing as it used to, then she should join the Channel 4 racing team. But, they probably wouldn't want her as they have much better female racing presenters.
Ms Balding loves to 'putdown' Willie Carson, she always 'tries' to be funny and have the last word with other guests. There are better and more experienced presenters at the Beeb who are way ahead of Ms Balding.
As I said if she had fallen into the Thames, she would have caused such a splash the surrounding areas would have been flooded. The Royal barge would have been grounded!!

Re: JUBILEE MAC SPOTTING
I don't know what Wellyboy was watching but I saw Fearne (correct spelling) Cotton interviewing on deck of the Belfast. She was wearing a red PVC raincoat, but like all girls these days it was not done up and flapping about in the breeze. I see many people have commented on the poor coverage of the event by the BBC, I must agree as some of the presenters seemed to know little about what was going on so were talking rubbish.
It would appear from other videos and stills that Fearne has more than one red PVC raincoat.

Yes I agree
Not on rainwear one of the commentators said twice HMS Belfast weighed 91,000 tons! No it does not!
Top weight was 14,000 tons during world war two!
