shiny or see through?

Post by PVCLOVER »

Next week I will be spending a couple of days in London. I hope to purchase both a shiny black and a semi transparent black long pvc raincoat whilst there.Having worn a semi transparent mac before, outside as well as inside,I have no problems with this raincoat. However, not sure about wearing shiny black outside in public. These macs are ankle length, and not many guys wear long pvc coats outside, especially shiny ones. If the weather is wet, should I forget my hang-ups about the shiny mac,and wear it outside,or stick with the see through one? I could be brave of course, and wear both outdoors!

Hi,
If it rains, you cannot see that it's shiny! :D
Wet things are always shiny... :)
i have a PUL K4MBC cape and a PA3MBC coat, both shiny.

Thanks for the comments and agree that I should 'just go for it'! I take your point, Peter, that wet things are always shiny. The raincoats I hope to get are the same as the PUL PA3 coat you have, I think.Great choice! Just need the weather to be wet at least one day of my visit! :)

From my experience / visits to London you can wear what you want,
I suspect if people notice they dont comment, on the basis of so many people , so many fashions / styles etc

Hi ! You should try not to worry what others think of your coat. I wear my very shiny black macks every day if its not hot out side.

If you wear them as often as possible people just get used to seeing you dressed this way. Plus you will get some lovely compliments and make a few new friends, maybe. It happens :-) I'm wearing mine now at Kingston Library and town centre... nobody cares.

I recently walked through a huge crowd of football supporters whilst wearing my shiny mack and not one of them said a word.
The other day a big gang of lads came up to me and just asked for directions to a pub... they didn't give my very shiny pvc u like mack a second glance. I was oddly, disappointed... :-)

Just be confident. Remember... it is, just a coat !

Just wear what you wish....don't worry about what others think.
With the recent wet weather,I have worn my macs every day during these past weeks. They have had a good soaking butI've had a lovely time keeping dry.!!
Enjoy London PVC Lover.

First of all, thanks to all for the encouraging posts. I have worn a semi transparent mac outside without a worry, but wasn't too sure about wearing shiny black in public. My visit to London was great and the weather was sunny for the couple of days I was there.I would have liked a wet day to try out the shiny black mac,but never mind,no doubt I will have plenty of chances at home soon!
