Out and about shopping for rubberboots

Post by Rainwearlover »

Hi all!
Just thought I´d share my recent experience with you. :)
Yesterday it started snowing again (already got a half decent snow cover here...) and the temperature was just about over freezing point meaning wet snow or even rain... So I took my favourite rainpants (shiny dark blue cotton backed rukka pvc waistpants from the 70´s or 80´s) with me and went for a drive, hoping to find a good place to take a walk in (always on the outskirts of town...).
Tough luck, just as I found a good place where I could take a walk it stopped snowing. Then I decided to do a thing that I had been thinking about doing for some time, go to a shop and shop for rubberboots. As I almost always wear rainwear/rainpants in combination with my rubberboots the only logical thing was to try on the rubberboots while wearing rainpants, to see how they work in combination. :D
So I went to a shoe shop, parked the car outside and got a bit nervous as it turned out to be pretty crowded for the time of the day, but I soon saw that most of the customers were pensioners that were too busy going about their own business to take any notice, so I got out and went in to have a look. There must have been atleast 25 different models of rubberboots there, went over to have a closer look, still wearing the rainpants.
As I approached the rubberboot section of the shop a female shop assistant, good looking blonde about 30, noticed me, she was clearly surprised to see that I was wearing rainpants, could see her looking at them  ... And as always, soon she had walked up to me and asked if I needed help. "No thanks, just looking" I replied and she went away. (always prefer to first have a look for my self first). But I soon regretted sending her away as yet another shop assistant turned up a few moments later! By now I had managed to start trying on boots. This shop assistant, a man about 60 or so, didn´t ask if I needed help, so I couldn´t really get him off my back as easy as the first one, instead he started talking about the boots and sizes and so on…
Soon he was showing me one set of boots after the other, I tried on all of the boots he recommended (4 or 5), always making sure to put the pants over the boot shaft and having a little walk back and forth as you do when in the shoe shopping situation. I don´t think he thought it was odd that I was wearing rainpants when trying on the different boots, he didn´t say anything about them or even as much as look twice at them, as far as I could see…
I didn´t stay long in the shop, said I had to go home and think about it… I will probably go back there some other time to have a look at the rubberboots once more, and of course I will be wearing rainwear or at least rainpants. :D I was quite nervous to begin with when entering the shop but it went just fine, nice experience!
Been thinking about what it would have been like it if I had taken the rainpants with me inside and put on them in right there in the shop before trying on the boots ...or if I showed up wearing my shiny orange HH bibpants…

Anybody done similar things?

I have been out shopping for wellington boots wearing rainwear.I have bought a few pairs wearing a yellow rain suit and also bought a pair wearing a pvc raincoat and the trousers from my rainsuit.Getting served by a female assistant trying the wellington boots on in a shop while wearing rainwear can add to the experience.
I also bought a pair of Nora wellingtons wearing my green rainsuit .Why not wear rainwear when shopping for wellington boots?

Wearing rainwear when shopping for rubberboots should come natural, atleast to rainwear fetishist. After all, most of the time you´re out in gear you also wear rubberboots. So making sure the rainwear fits/goes with the boots is a natural thing to do... I always use that as an "excuse" for wearing rainpants/gear when trying on rubberboots in a shop... :D Getting served by a female assistant sure is a thrill :P see her expression when you pull out the rainpants and say "I´ll just try them on with these on..." Did that once, not much of an reaction :P
