Hello,
In some weeks we go for a holiday to South Germany, Oberstdorf, at the edge of the Alps, where it rains more than elsewhere.
We walk there and I should like to know ,what is better a cape or a mac?
I can switch between them at home, but cannot take both with me .
Sometimes I think a cape is better ,because it is not so tight in comparision whit a mac. But my cape is a PVCU Like enclosed one, with no buttons. So is is perhaps a little too warm?
Who has experience ?
Greetings, Peter

Hi Peter,
If you have to walk in the country or in the middle mountain, I sincerely think you better have to take your cape.
The hikers, in rainy or fog weather, carry readily a cape. You will be good in the vestimentary context in this way.
A closed mac will be to hot to wear to walk or climb for a long time.
Have a nice encaped time.
Best regards.

a mac seems a far better option, cn always undo it if it isnt raining but you want to keep it on

Cape is good because it covers bags etc that you are carrying.
You can get cape with arm holes and buttons

Hello,
Yes ,I know. I always had a cape with armholes and buttons, but with heavy rain it crept through the holes ,and you got wet .
So I have experience ,and now I am in doubt.
It depends also on the temperature ,if it 's not too cold a Mac is good ,but if you want dry hands ,a cape is better.
If there is athunderstorm, a cape is beter...
Who is next ?
Greetings ,Peter ,from sunny Netherlands .
