Where can I buy a Yellow reversible raincoat

Post by wellingtonguy »

I've checked several websites hoping to buy a yellow reversible raincoat without success. Does anyone know an online store or indeed High Street store that sells them?

I got one from raindropsto.com, it's yellow rubberized nylon reversible to navy, 3/4 length. they also have it in yellow reversible to olive nylon. They're based in Canada, but I'm pretty sure they ship to the UK. $50 Canadian dollars, not sure what that translates over to in GBP.

Oh it is gorgeous!! Lovely!!!
But yes a tad pricey. I remember when Primark sold them in the 80s for just 8 pounds.
Does anyone wear them these days?

Yes, I bought my first one in Penney's in Mary St, Dublin - round about 82 or 83 - They had a big rack of them right at the back of the store.

My mum bought a yellow reversible in the early 80s for going to college.
She brought me to Penneys in Mary Street and I remember walking with her to the rear of the department store where, low and behold, there were loads of brightly coloured, yellow rainmacks for boys and girls!!
She told me to talke off my jacket and try on one of the 'girly' macks. I was really embarrassed. I then had to zip it up, pull up the hood and walk up the aisle in front of a mirror while my mum looked on approvingly.
She then took to to Roches Stores department store nearby to buy wellingtons.
As I am a size 8, we had to go to the girl shoe section as the men's shoes only started at size 9.
There I was seated and told to remove my shoes while mum discussed the wellies options with a female assitant who wasn't more than 21. The young assistant returned with three pairs of wellies. One was red with a white top and sole and tie-tops; the other was shiny blue with white top soles and the tie top and the third was yellow.
I had to try on all three and walk up and down in them.
We agreed on the shiny blue, but Mum also bought me the yellow ones as 'back up'.
I remember my first day having to wear my yellow reversible and blue wellies to college. I had to take two buses. One to the city centre and the other from O'Connell Street to college. I was so self-conscious. Girls in my class thought my coat and wellies were really lovely and 'cool'.
I got used to wearing them and even wore my yellow ones.
I went out with a fellow female student who wanted a yellow reversible and so I went to town with her to penneys. She loved hers.
It seems a long time ago now. But I really enjoyed those raincoat years of the 80s. I progressed to buying clear c thru plastic macks.
Today I have a yellow reversible and yellow wellies. I also have a shiny see thru plastic mack which I wore recently in the rain in Dublin.
I also have a jeantax 3/4 length shiny blue mack and blue wellies. I wore them last week in the rain to the Blanchardstown shopping centre and to my local newsagents. The girl in the local shop said my coat was lovely!!!
Now, if I could only meet some fellow rainwear fans in Dublin!

Mmmm, I'm tempted. Maybe a walk along Sandymount strand, some rainy evening?
