Gisele Bündchen wears vinyl trousers.

Post by merv »

a slightly tenuous rainwear link (sorry if it offends) but my guess is that this will appeal to some

Very nice - both she and the jeans.

I would even take two pairs of them. One I would be wearing while I would "process" the second one.

There are other celebrities who like to show their legs in shiny vinyl:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/artic ... users.html

But the best of all is that there may be a trend for shiny jeans and trousers for this Autumn/Winter season:

http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/trends/2 ... l-trousers
http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/news/fashi ... ml#index=1
https://www.todayimwearing.com/trending-vinyl-trousers/
http://www.gloria-agostina.com/wordpres ... nyl-pants/
and so on ......

So there is at least a small chance that we will come to see garments made from "proper rainwear fabric" indoors at bars, nightclubs and even in the office !

I do particularily like Alexa Chungs Glastonbury outfit. Good for the rain and the mud. Since there are always long queues in front of the toilets at openair festivals there could even some absorbent be worn underneath to prevent accidents and/or making queueing unnecessary.

I have some of the Mango trousers and I will get a pair of the French connection ones from a girl who bought a pair but isn't brave enough to wear them. I have seen them on her and I must say she looks stunning. She didn't believe me but I didn't insist too much on that- because she said that she will give them away. ;) I then rose my hand .....
I will try my suggestion for openair festivals with both of these trousers and I will also compare them with my relative's P-pants because I will go to a festival like that as well soon.
I am currently wearing a pair of the Mango ones underneath my jeans. I also did it at work yesterday. They are made from a material that is not very rustly. Olthough I like the ususal noises of plastic garments it is better when they stay calm when wearing them underneath as sweat pants. ;)OTOH as soon as the are really wet on the inside they also get less noisy automatically. I will wear them for the next few days as well like that until they get really smelly.

I hope there will be more like that soon. I also hope for some without pockets such that the can be converted into nice and stylish P-pants.
And some may also end up in the sales, which is also good because I can also use some of them in random sizes as pull-in trousers.

Thank you for posting these articles up. It is good to see some favourable comments from the fashion writers, and the Mail article on women trying pvc trousers is good as well. Articles like these might help to make pvc garments mainstream again.

Thanks for sharing these articles and pictures. It is lovely to see such smart vinyl trousers...................they must be a joy to wear. Unfortunately I do not have a figure like Gisele but I will certainly look out for them as they'll look good with one of my mackintoshes.

I must say that allwomen in the Daily Mail article looked good in them even the ones who are the farthest form having a model shape.

I just made the "festival test" with a new pair of Mango vynil trousers. They didn't fail, apart maybe from the fact that the excess went down the legs. And yes, the zip made some problems as this was a very new pair of unworn and untried jeans. But I think I do now know why jeans like that are called "drainpipes". ;)
Don't know whether it is appropriate to link to the video of the test here.

I am again in the "pre conditioning phase" for another test.
Since I don't have the elegant French Connection trousers yet I asked my relstive whether I may test some of his briefs made from rainpants. There is again a frsh batch of them ready for the "maiden usage". I have a choice of blsck Rukka or Helly Hansen in either dark blue, orange or yellow.
What would you suggest ?

I have to marvel at how this thread seems to have gone from some minor celebrity wearing vinyl trousers as a fashion item to somebody with presumably bladder problems apparently wanting to piss themselves or worse, always good to stay classy
