Rainwear film on UK TV 21/01/2017

Post by KlepperGuy »

For UK members, the BBC is broadcasting the film 'I Know Where I'm Going' (1945), starring Wendy Hiller and Roger Livesey.
The film is set in the Scottish Highlands and featured some very nice rubber and oilskin rainwear, worn during the rain and storm scenes.
Well worth watching to get an idea of the vintage rainwear worn in the 1930's and 40's.

Date: 21st January 2017 at 08.30 am to 10.00am.
Channel: BBC2

iPlayer users may be able to watch it via a computer.

So my advice is record it and then watch it later, suitably attired in you favourite rainwear and enjoy a glass of wine. ;)

Is this movie based on the very short book from Amazon?

Hi klepper guy,
That is a very good film set on the Isle of mull, I bought the DVD from amazon for £6 three years ago.
Though I think Pamela Brown looks better in her raingear than Wendy Hiller does !
I would love to spend a week on that island, if that is the way you have to dress for the weather there.

It was widely available on DVD so it would be worth getting.
Of course klepper guy you would be better off with some good Scottish whiskey rather than wine to set the scene to watch the film.

Hi, Not sure about the book.

Dvd....yes I have it to.

One idea would be to record the film.............dress up in your favourite gear.........buy a 'Haggis' and have it with 'Neeps and Tatties'........get some whisky...........watch the film and celebrate 'Burns Night on the 25th January.

Have a good weekend.
