Cold London

Post by pvc_pete »

Hi from a very cold London.

Not the ideal weather for normal rainwear, but shopping at the weekend on Oxford Street, there were hundreds of women and men wearing puffa or quilted coats and jackets.

Most were normal nylon, some of which were pretty shiny. However I saw at least 10 or 15 (mainly women) wearing pvc puffa coats. Listening to their accents, i would say most were French, German or Italian, with the odd Japanese.

Unfortunately i didn't have my camera or phone, but a very enjoyable day. I only wish more British women would wear shiny coats, rain or puffa.

I don't think I've ever seen a plastic puffa.They sound wonderful!
The shiny nylon Moncler puffers and their copies look great though, especially the longer ones.
You see loads of them in Europe as you say.Don't know why you don't see more here.

Hi Neil,

Some of the Monclers seem to be plastic coated, but about 5 years ago there were lots of puffas made with a heavier pvc or PU fabric. They obviously still sell them in europe. In the crowds a couple of women wearing them pushed into me and you could feel the smooth heavier weight of the fabric.

Hi Pete
I've got one of those heavy PU coated puffas.I bought it about 10 years ago. It's a Blue Ribband brand and it's filled with synthetic padding instead of down. It's very heavy and warm and fairly shiny. The fabric feels nice and substantial to touch and is quite smooth.
Women wearing PVC puffas pushing against you?
You lucky fellow!! :P

Do they make those shiny puffas in men's? I'd love to wear a 3/4 length one.
REally nice and cosy.

Mine is a large mens size but it isn't very long.
I would very much like a knee length puffa too.I've occasionally seen a man wearing one,but I've never seen any for sale.

Last January was mild compared to the weather and snow we've just had (18 Dec 10) that's brought the country and all the airports to a standstill. It was minus 5.5c when I went out this morning. Oh well, a good excuse for extra layers of waterproofs.
Best job? Saturday job at motorcycle shop - I was 13. I liked it when it rained and guys came in in their waterproof gear.
Goal? To meet a gay man who likes rainwear and doesn't think it's strange to tog up in my best waterproofs to go to 'bed' :-)
