Ok, I am drawing a line here for myself. I have worn the cape at several occasions and decided that in public, I wll use it for its original purpose, weather protection, only. And when it is less suitable than other raingear, that I have, I will probably use the other raingear. I am not going to show off my cape on a hot summer day or even during a cold sunny winter day. Well, I might think again about cold sunny winter days, capes provide a cocoon of warmer air, they are useful on such days. Running around in a cape without a "proper" purpose is like wearing a sign "fetishist inside", and I don't like that, my fetish life is strictly private. Or in short: In public, the cape is simply a more or less suitable garment and I am not going to wear it there for living my fetish. But of course, I'll enjoy all side effects during "appropriate garmental wear".
I also noticed, that the idea of asking about the public image of men in rain capes here in this forum was a bit silly, as most members here are clearly not in line with public opinions. The title of this thread would better have been something like "good reasons for men to wear a rain cape in public".

Hi Hugo,
I fully agree with you.
I only wear rainwear as it rains.

Totally agree, i only wear my capes when it is raining. The only time I wore my cape when the sun was out when vacationing at a seaside resort. It was raining and shortly after the sun came out and the wind was very cold, so I kept my cape on for I was very cold and I didn't mind it at all.
