Of course you are right about everyones right to 'hide' their identity on personal pix, I was thinking more about the people who take images from other sites and think they are 'ok' to share them because they have disguised the image

That is called "theft of intellectual property" and black faces are only a side effect. Would you complain about people who distort company logos or misspell brand names on fake products? Probably not, you would be happy that you discovered the fake, or you would even buy it, thinking that it is an almost legal or at least less illegal fake.
