I posted this same link a while back. Still one of my all time favourite music videos, always gets me wondering what the suit is like after all that frantic dancing, whether she gets overheated and what she was wearing underneath?

I bet it turned very sweaty.
I think there were hundreds of vinyl boilersuits sweat to death in discos by the end of the seventies - beginning of the eighties.
In recent years there was an increase of vinyl again used as clubwear or casual. I wonder how many times all the dresses, shorts, skirts, bodysuits, leggings and trousers get worn for clubbing on average before going to the bin.

I attended many disco's back in the 70s and was fortunate one night seeing a beautiful-looking gal in transparent plastic disco pants and top. I remember seeing them in pictures and ads, but never seen it in person.

Those shiny vinyl boiler suits seemed to gain popularity as the 80s came around. I remember a Kool & the Gang album with a model wearing them for the cover art.

My girlfriend/fiancé at the time would wear plastic and vinyl for me, including rain wear. I remember finding an ad in one of her Cosmo magazines that sold plastic bikini's and even a clear plastic shorts outfit with matching jacket. More on our adventures later.

I must have been in the wrong place in the 80’s. The most I ever saw were plastic jelly jackets and raincoats. Once in a nightclub I saw two large girls in PVC dresses, never any clear plastic. I do recall shiny nylon joggers were a thing and similar dance pants and shorts, but again no plastic.

I did never have the privilege to see any of these live in action. But I remember seeing these in the windows of fashion shops an on celebrities in magazines.

I, to remember Jelly Jackets. They were everywhere. I remember a few high school football games in the rain, the entire cheerleader team were wearing them. The malls on rainy days were packed with young ladies wearing them. I seem to recall that one of the big catalog stores even sold matching pants, overshoes and hats! Never seen the complete outfits in public.

I do remember attending some games where some cheerleaders wore the popular frosty clear rain suits. They also went out of their way by wearing clear plastic bags over their sneakers with rubber bands.

Those were the days!

Arghhhh why oh why didn’t I live in your neck of the woods? The most I have ever seen is one girl in a jelly jacket at a time. The idea of an entire cheerleader team clad in plastic would be my idea of heaven.
