Fetish History

Post by Deleted User 5375 »

Following on from Beth’s post and picture of Ginger Rogers in a plastic Mac, it got me wondering…

Since most of us developed our taste for rainwear at a formative age, I wonder if there was a period when nobody had yet developed a fetish for that item. Leather was probably the oldest material, followed by rubber and then PVC. And thinking forward in time. What future materials will form the fetishes of tomorrow? How many men will grow up wanting their partner to wear a mask as a result of seeing their mum in one now? I am sure shoe fetishes come from mothers standing next to their young children as they sat on the floor and played.

I was born on July 15/55, this magazine came out the next day, maybe that's why I'm so hooked on plastic macs.

Nice picture. I always liked magazine covers that featured plastic macs for no reason. I can see how an image like that would be turn on, but probably not for someone who is one day old, or was it lying around the house for many years?

I have given this a bit of thought down the years but I don't know why certain fetishes develop. In the case of shiny rainwear it does look a bit distinctive to almost anyone, but only a tiny handful of kids develop a fetish, wether we like the look of it, the feel of it or in most cases both. In my own case once I reached my teenage years I also developed a strong liking for seeing women wearing it.
