Beth this is a wonderful posting. I have seen still photos and video extractsfrom this film but now we can see that the lovely plastic mark was worn through most of the second half of the film. One thing I love is that when she is first putting on the lovely raincoat, you can clearly hear that delicious crinkling and crackling, just as if you are there with her. Interesting that plastic raincoats was worn during World War 2, although I’ve seen videos of them at least in the early thirties. It would be interesting to know when they were first available to the public.
It would be great to have seen the colour of the lovely Mac, but I suppose the film was made during the war with restrictions on materials, as well as the subject lending itself more to black and white. At least we can imagine how it would have looked in pale blue or even better pastel pink.
