Rainwear, the high street at last

Post by Shinydreams »

There is a very strong theme of 60's fashion in the high street fashion chains right now. With the autumn season stock filtering in we might at last see some nice 60's inspired rainwear!

That's great to hear!!

The best ways of learning what's available in shops are:

1) Reading relevant UK fashion magazines and;
2) Visiting likely establishments such as Primark, Topshop, Zara et al

Topshop, in particular, already know that anything PVC sells, and sells very well. Therefore it's highly likely they'll go for it again this winter.

Could English readers let us know what's available so overseas guys like me get a chance to buy something?

Problem is, as others have mentioned, it sells on the High Street but doesnt often appear to be worn by anyone in public

It seems to go from shop to where ever :(

The Top Shop ones from earlier this year / late last year were 'sold out' I think Ive seen 2 Blue and 1 Red out on the street

A good point has been made. If pvc sells in the shops, where does it go after the tills? Hardly ever on tne street. A good case is the transparent macs Primark sold last autumn/winter. These macs must have been bought, and I saw women looking as if to buy,but I never saw them being worn outside.Strange!

Maybe when they left the shop with them they got them home tried it on and it ripped?
Then back to Primark for a refund.

yes, I always wonder where this stuff goes, but then we get so little rain in this part of the country anyway that rainwear gets few outings

its all about numbers. If all of the highstreet chains follow a similar theme then it is deemed as acceptable, but equally if the fashion press endorse products then you may see a greater presensce of rainwear in public

I see the point of rainwear being sold and not being seen worn, however the last coats offered by Primark were not exactly high fashion.

Unfortunately the fashion concious public expect a little more than the average mac. If others deliver then you may have a result.

This is the sum of the problem.

Alternatively if rainwear is endorsed by celebrities, you would then probably witness an overnight change as fashion and status is highly influenced by celebrities and the press.

Dont be so negative folks, it may happen

to be fair nothing in primark is high fashion, just cheap tat that falls to pieces after one wash. I feel dirty just entering the shop

Ouch - obviously not a Primark fan then Merv??

To be fair I haven't bought a thing there so I cant comment re quality except "you get what you pay for" - One season throw away fashion I guess
Broad minded enough to acknowledge we all enjoy different things:)
