Another head scratcher on ebay

Post by Bill_P »

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/VINTAGE-BURBERRY ... 3a698ad213

Now I know Burberry is a high-end brand, and I know, having just purchased one myself, how great their rubber-backed cotton macs are, and how they're made to last for decades if you take proper care of them. But 999 GBP for one? How can this guy justify selling a used coat, no matter how great of shape it's in, for that price? Especially considering that the one I just bought only cost me 85 GBP, in roughly the same like-new condition?

it would be interesting to know if he gets any takers. Its all very well to put a price on something but whether you find a buyer is something very different. Still if anybody is desperate enough to pay that then good luck to them.

Anybody dare ask him if the price is negotiable?

He's received 9 offers so far ... which indicates he's not interested in selling unless it's around or very close to that price. :-((

I also collect seashells, and chat a lot with other collectors - and believe you me, there are some equally greedy (and optimistic) sellers out there including one twit who is trying to sell everything on e-bay for anywhere 2 to 10 times its real value. they are great, great shells, but not one taker so far.

Which all goes back to the old question

'What is something worth?'

Answer is whatever someone is willing to pay on the day you're selling it

Which is why we see so many so called 'experts' get things wrong

Was at local Antiques Centre on Saturday ( about 50 miles form this ebay seller) looking for clothes for this week ends Goodwood revival
A number of Burberry overcoats - not identical to this I will add -They ranged between £100 & £150
Broad minded enough to acknowledge we all enjoy different things:)
