I hadn’t given this and past attention but realized this week the song “Penny Lane” had the line about it strange the individual doesn’t wear a mac in the pouring rain.
Verse here:
On the corner is a banker with a motorcar
And little children laugh at him behind his back
And the banker never wears a mac in the pouring rain
Very strange
It’s your musical memory of the day.
Penny Lane … mentions mac
Re: Penny Lane … mentions mac
Why we are on the subject of song lyrics, Substitute by The Who mentions plastic Mac
Re: Penny Lane … mentions mac
As does Pool Hall Richard by Rod Stewart and the Faces:
Trying to hide himself in a plastic mac.
Also the video for Madness, Sun and the Rain has them all wearing grey pacamacs.

Lets not forget Rubber Boots from Alphabeat.
The song tell you to put on your rubber boots on and to put your Mackintosh on. Also you should wear rubber.

For the Cagoule people, scouting for girls song
Michaela Strachan Lyrics
I turned on the telly
When I got home from school
You were there in your wellies
And a yellow Cagoule
You opened my eyes
To the birds and the bees
I loved you so
My Really Wild Show
On the BBC

I used to have a crush on her when I was younger in the 90s because I was in my middle childhood and early teens when she was on TV. Was as more like puppy love. At that time I was developing my fetish for wellies.

In Paul McCartney's autobiography he talks about the time they were just starting out and had a stint in Germany. They used to hang out with a group of people who sat around smoking weed while wearing oilskin mackintoshes.
