Re: Wearing rainwear in public
I only wear my dull black pvc mac and dull black pvc trousers when out and it's raining and i'm not one for liking attention drawn to myself. I also only wear my pvc trousers if it's raining heavily.

Clearly it would be odd if you went out wearing a plastic raincoat or the like on a hot sunny day but next time it is raining just slip on something inconspicuous in the rainwear line and go for it. You will be surprised at how little notice anyone takes. What is strange about wearing appropriate clothing for the weatherhaggy45 wrote:I don't have the courage to wear any rainwear outside at all, the area I live in are quite narrow minded. So if I ever do build up some courage mine would be inconspicuous
I certainly will try, am currently on the lookout for a low profile raincoat yet something that is still nice enough to satisfy me, any suggestions anyone? Pics or links would be appreciated

Hi,
Just buy a raincoat at PVC U Like , Dark blue type PA3 ?
Or a raincape.
This morning it rained here in the Netherlands, I have worn the raincape K4 and boots.
Nobody looks at you.
Only dogs .

Re: Wearing rainwear in public
perhaps you could try something like this which is not overly outrageous to wear on a wet day

Hello,
Unfortunately I am not paid by pvc-u-like but I have to say that the men raincoats they sell are the top.
On the site of PVC-U-Like there is an other one for men wich is far better than the picture schown.
I have bought 5 different, see throu , 2* charcoal see trou, shiny black and dark blue. not so expensive I like them very much. The grey see throu is very heavy and the material very nice to wear
They are better than the picture, and there is no probleme to wear them outside when the weather is rainy.
Don't hesitate buy and wear outside

Re: Wearing rainwear in public
I regularly wear raincoats in the public, even if it's only light rain. These are a light, long, black Aprilrain coat and an olive, heavy, middle length Grundens coat. Only in case of heavy rain I wear blue Grundens Sandhamn oilskins (jacket & bibpants) on my commute to work. But in the office I change in "normal" clothes.

Got one of those - wore it for two days at Goodwood Revival - no funny looks but some admiring looks & couple of comments re being sensible & also "vintage" style like rest of clothes I was wearingmerv wrote:perhaps you could try something like this which is not overly outrageous to wear on a wet day

Re: Wearing rainwear in public
I usualy wear my black slicker on cool days, spring and fall, On wet days I always wear my long red slicker, its longer than the one displayed in my avatar, however its made of the same material PU coated fabric. Often get appreciative comments! These days it seems rainwaer is coming back in vogue. I have a few photos of my designs on flicker under pacificslicker. Its supposed to rain 50mm today we have a warning here in Southern Ontario. So looking forward to wearing it out!
